Betty Berg
Director of Adult Discipleship and Fellowship x
Live – I've called the PNW my home for the vast majority of my life, having grown up in Bellevue, completed my education in Seattle, and now put down family roots in Woodinville. We live in the house my husband grew up in, and the plan is to stay here until the next generation takes over (no pressure kids!). Work – Before kids, I put my theology degrees to work teaching middle school students Christian Studies at the Bear Creek School. After the kids came along, my biggest desire was to stay home full time with them. During that time, I joined the leadership team of a local moms' group (MOPs International), helping provide community and support for the challenging years of mothering little ones. Starting in 2024, I rejoined the ministry field as the Director of Adult Discipleship and Fellowship, a role in which I get to join two of my favorite things, community and theology. Play – When I'm not chasing the kids around, you can find me taking the dog for walks in the woods, dreaming up projects for the garden, creating things out of fabrics and strings, reading all sorts of fiction, or watching a little more screen time than is probably good for me. |

Director of Local Outreach x
Live - I grew up in Idaho, moved to Washington for college, married my husband, who was in the Air Force, and then moved all over the country: California, Montana, Ohio, New Mexico, and Alabama. When my husband retired, we moved back to Washington and have been in Kirkland since 2016. We love this big town that manages to have a small town, lake-side community vibe. Work - My role on staff is Director of Local Outreach. I am so excited in this new role (previously I was the Director of Adult Discipleship and Fellowship) to represent the hands of God to help our Kirkland community and the greater Eastside community. Outside of Rose Hill, I work part time as a medical assistant and part time as a tasting room associate. Play - In my spare time, I love to read, craft, snow ski, and play on the water. Our kids’ activities can keep us pretty busy. We like taking our dog, Lilo, out for walks around our neighborhood. I enjoy spending time in the company of friends and family. |

Office Administrator x
Live – I’m lucky enough to be a native to this area, growing up in Bothell and then settling in the Woodinville area in 2015. Work – I became the administrator here at Rose Hill in summer of 2022 and had some big shoes to fill! I knew that this was where God was calling me to be and I’m happy to use my admin skills to serve the Lord here on the Eastside that I call home. When I’m not in the office the other parts of my days are spent teaching my small studio of music students and participating in local choral and orchestral groups. You might even catch me at worship on Sunday mornings playing on the handbells, piano, or violin! Play – Most of the time if I’m free you’ll find me at home reading under my favorite blanket. But when I’m not putting down roots on the furniture at home I love to spend time with my closest friends grabbing coffee, “geeking out” on our hobbies, going to local art fairs, or exploring new places. |

Assistant Pastor (Congregational Care) x
Live - Jan and I have lived in the PNW for the better part of 34 years. We raised our kids here, and four of the five live within an hour’s drive or so away. We have three incredible grandsons. Almost 8 years ago, we moved from Sammamish to just outside Duvall. We love the small-town environment, the nearby woods, lakes, creeks, and of course, the wildlife! Work - I began serving part-time as the Director of Congregational Care in late 2019. I was ordained in January of 2022 and am now the Pastor of Congregational Care. I received my training at Portland Seminary and spent three years as a temporary pastor in Sitka, Alaska (commuting monthly). I am also employed by the Riverview School District. Prior to entering ministry, I was in law enforcement. Play - We have two wonderful dogs that we love giving lots of walks to. Jan and I walk regularly, go birding, walking in the woods, and in season, do a little fishing. Spending time with our adult children and our grandchildren are highlights for us. In the summer we spend time out in the sun, boating, fishing, and enjoying everything outdoors. I am a sun lover, so we try to get somewhere sunny when we can for a bit in the winter. |

Director of Modern Worship x
Live – I moved to Kirkland from Seattle in 2017. Right off the bat, I was struck with the cultural diversity and small town feel of this little gem in the shadow of the big city I called home for 20 years. Work – I stepped into the role as Director of Modern Worship in 2023 after a lifetime of learning to be a musician. I boast the ability to play about 8 or 9 instruments, but I'm a hack at all but piano, guitar, voice, and handbells. Thanks to my youth director, I learned guitar and started leading worship in high school. I've been blessed to use my musical gifts to honor God and lead others in connecting with God through music ever since. When I’m not at Rose Hill, I am either parenting my son, managing our zoo, teaching at Northwest University and The Bear Creek School, or running my own essay and mock interview coaching business. Play – Didn't you just read the work section? Just kidding. We must find time to play, right? It often changes, but right now, I try to beat my son at checkers, have coffee and/or take a walk with a friend, laugh with my husband, or dream about the next family vacation. In the summer, if I'm not swimming or kayaking on the lake, I'm thinking about it...a lot. |

Senior Pastor x
Live – My wife (Gwen) and I moved to Kirkland in 2012, along with our four (we now have five) kids. I grew up on the Eastside, not far from Kirkland, and have always loved Kirkland for its cute waterfront downtown and plethora of public beaches. It’s like a California beach town…but with fresh water. And Costco. And Rose Hill Church. What more could you ask for? We love Kirkland! Work – I’ve been the head pastor at RH since we moved here – it’s why we came to Kirkland! Prior to that, I was head pastor of a church in Chehalis, WA, and before that was Associate Pastor of a church in Salt Lake City starting in 2002. I’ve had lots of other kinds of work as well, such as: Music Teacher, Director of Athletic Ministries, Waiter, Ski Instructor, Lifeguard, and more. My wife and I are both Fuller Seminary grads with our Masters of Divinity, and I got my B.A. in Business Marketing and a minor in Music from the “U-dub.” God has graciously blessed me with gifts of preaching, teaching, leading a church through change, and the all-important (but not listed in Scripture, sadly) spiritual gift of a good sense of humor…and He’s given me the courage to use it, along with – usually – the wisdom and discernment on when not to use it. Play – I’ll be honest: If I could play all the time, I would be sorely tempted, though I do truly love being a pastor and seeing people grow in Jesus (the best is growing in Jesus while playing!). But skiing, water-skiing, sailing, basketball, mountain-biking, hiking, music (listening to and making) …these are all things I love doing and count as “play.” Some I do more than others, but I enjoy them all. My favorite thing about playing now is doing so with Gwen and/or the kids. It’s such a joy to “play” with them! |

Corporate Treasurer x
Live – My wife, Joan, and I currently live in Vancouver, WA, and spend mid-October to mid-February in Morro Bay, California. Business is handled by email, phone and Zoom meetings. Though we live more than three hours away, our roots at Rose Hill Church go back to 1976 when we started attending and became members after moving to Kirkland from Seattle in 1975. Work – In 2021, I was asked to become Rose Hill Church's Treasurer. I became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) after Rose Hill Church sent us to serve as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1983. In Wycliffe, I served mostly in financial management roles including Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. In 2017, I retired from Wycliffe. I, with the assistance of my wife, have a tax preparation business focused primarily on pastors and missionaries. We also do internal control reviews in churches. Play – While in Morro Bay, California, we enjoy the beach and warmer, drier weather. We hike, play golf, and enjoy the many other activities in this beautiful part of God's kingdom. In the summer, we like to go camping at the Oregon and Washington coasts to enjoy the beauty we see there. |
